The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 5 of 36

The Second Book of Chronicles

Chapter 5

¹ Thus all the work that Solomon did for the house of the LORD was finished. Solomon brought in the things that his father David had dedicated, and stored the silver, the gold and all the vessels in the treasuries of the house of God.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 5 verse 1)

Oh God my beloved Father, one pope is followed by another, different popes bring a new vision and perspective to the Roman Catholic Church, however, care is to be taken to preserve the basics, the teachings of Jesus and that which was transmitted to the Apostles. It is very important to adjust to the new challenges facing today's society, however, it is not wise to forsake what has been ours in the Church through many generations Amen.

² Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the ancestral houses of the people of Israel, in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 5 verse 2)

Oh God my beloved Father, the place of the king is on his throne in his Kingdom, likewise, the place of the 'Ark of the Covenant' had its place in the temple, likewise, Your place is on the throne of our hearts Amen. Come and build Your throne oh God in Your Sacred place in my heart and in that of all who love You Amen.

³ And all the Israelites assembled before the king at the festival that is in the seventh month.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 5 verse 3)

Oh God my Father, if people come before the human king, how much more should they come before You the King of all Kings Amen.

⁴ And all the elders of Israel came, and the Levites carried the ark. ⁵ So they brought up the ark, the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 5 verses 4 to 5)

Oh God my Father, no feast is a true feast if it is not celebrated in Your presence, it is only You that makes such feasts of true value Amen, may You always be the core of our lives and hearts Amen.

⁶ King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, who had assembled before him, were before the ark, sacrificing so many sheep and oxen that they could not be numbered or counted.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 5 verse 6)

Oh God my Father to You I am a sacrificial offering, every second of my life I offer myself to You, I offer You both my strengths and all my weakness, because this is the real and only me, the self that you have lent me in order to live this life. I pray for all the people of the world so that they make You the centre of their lives. You who not only received sacrificial offerings but who became the sacrificial offering for all the world. Amen Thank You God my Father.

⁷ Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the most holy place, underneath the wings of the cherubim.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 5 verse 7)

Oh God my Father, I also pray that You have a secure place in my inner self, my soul and in my brain, and that nobody or nothing will ever replace Your presence in me Amen. I pray to be always under the wing of Your love care and protection. I pray that You give me faith to keep on believing and wisdom to keep on making the right decisions based on my faith and values according to Your Word Amen.

⁸ For the cherubim spread out their wings over the place of the ark, so that the cherubim made a covering above the ark and its poles.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 5 verse 8)

Oh God, my Father, I pray that Your protective wings will always be over me, since the forces of evil never stop trying to harm me. I, therefore, pray for Your constant protection especially today Amen.

⁹ The poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the holy place in front of the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen from outside; they are there to this day.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 5 verse 9)

Oh God, my intimate Father if You do not permit us to experience You in such a deep way, we would be always as if viewing You from outside of the Sanctuary, thus seeing the shadow of the image but not the form or the image itself. I pray that in time Your relationship with me continues growing Amen. Thanks Jesus.

¹⁰ There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets that Moses put there at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the people of Israel after they came out of Egypt.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 5 verse 10)

Oh God my Father and all my brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ. The people of God treasured the covenant that You, my God had made with them, so much that they carried with them the tablets which they considered as being sacred were placed in a special box and special people were also assigned to carry it. When considering our lives do we treasure those special moments in our lives such as when we became Christians or Roman Catholic or maybe any other form of belief. Do we treasure that important document? Do we treasure our Bible's and keep them in a special place as did the people of God?

Oh God You have a special place in my heart, one that nobody can replace. I pray that I treasure You forever Amen.

¹¹ Now when the priests came out of the holy place (for all the priests who were present had sanctified themselves, without regard to their divisions), ¹² all the levitical singers, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, their sons and kindred arrayed in fine linen, with cymbals, harps and lyres, stood east of the altar with one hundred twenty priests who were trumpeters. ¹³ It was  the duty of the trumpeters and singers to make themselves heard in unison in praise and thanksgiving to the LORD, and when the song was raised, with trumpets and cymbals and other musical instruments in praise to the LORD,
"For he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever," the house of the LORD was filled with a cloud, ¹⁴ so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 5 verses 11 to 14)

Oh God my Father when we are united in prayers, when we sing together as one body we are united as one body, so much that the presence of God is both in us and with us. Amen.

Oh Holy and almighty God I would like to end this meditation on the fifth chapter of the Second Book of Chronicles with the following prayer:-

Oh God my blessed Father I pray that everyday of our lives is a celebration in Your Holy Presence. I pray that every time we meet we offer sincere prayers of thanksgiving and praise Amen.

The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 4

The Second Book of Chronicles

Chapter 4

¹ He made an altar of bronze, twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and ten cubits high.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 4 verse 1)

Oh God my beloved Father my prayer corner may not be this big or so richly furnished, for I have only a medium sized wooden desk from which I offer my prayers, however on the other hand, I have other altars everywhere I go, such as my workplace, where I offer You each of my clients, and all the people whom You wish me to come across Amen. Everywhere I go is an altar that can bear much fruit according to Your will Amen.

² Then he made the molten sea; it was round, ten cubits from rim to rim, and five cubits high. A line of thirty cubits would encircle it completely. ³ Under it were panels all around, each of ten cubits, surrounding the sea, there were two rows of panels, cast when it was cast. ⁴ It stood on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east; the sea was set on them. The hindquarters of each were toward the inside. ⁵ Its thickness was a handbreath; its rim was made like the rim of a cup, like the flower of a lily; it held three thousand baths. ⁶ He also made ten basins in which to wash, and set five on the right side, and five on the left. In these they were to rinse what was used for the burnt offering. The sea was for the priests to wash in.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 4 verses 2 to 6)

Oh God my blessed Father, the molten sea reminds me of the basin that is used during the rites of baptism where original sin is destroyed in the consecrated water and is no more. Throughout my life I am in the process of becoming more aware of my sins and being cleansed of them. Each day of my life is one step down into the basin until I am fully immersed and ready to go out from the other side and meet You in heaven Amen. This is my dream. Thank You Jesus.

⁷ He made ten golden lampstands as prescribed and set them in the temple, five on the south side and five on the north.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 4 verse 7)

Oh God my Father may my soul be enlightened by Faith in You. May the temple within me always be enlightened by the flame of faith even though I am still weak and a sinner Amen.

⁸ He also made ten tables and placed them in the temple, five on the right side and five on the left. And he made one hundred basins of gold.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 4 verse 8)

Oh God my beloved Father, You love me so much that You invite me to have fellowship with You. You have even reserved a table and chair and even made a basin which is an opportunity for me to be cleansed both spiritually and physically before I appear before You Amen. I thank You for such an opportunity my God and Father Amen.

⁹ He made the court of the priests, and the great court, and doors for the court; he overlaid their doors with bronze. ¹⁰ He set the sea at the southeast corner of the house.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 4 verses 9 to 10)

Oh God my beloved Father, if I could I would cover the doors and chambers of my heart with gold, so that it could be a worthy dwelling place for Your Holy Spirit. Amen.

¹¹ And Huram made the pots, the shovels, and the basins. Thus Huram finished the work that he did for King Solomon on the house of God ¹² the two pillars, the bowls and the two capitals on the top of the pillars; and the two latticeworks to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on top of the pillars; ¹³ the four hundred pomegranates for the two latticeworks, two rows of pomegranates for each latticework, to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on the pillars.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 4 verses 11 to 13)

Oh God my Father, You have given us all different skills, I pray that we all use them both in the Church and in our everyday lives especially for the good of others and even for ourselves Amen.

¹⁴ He made the stands, the basins on the stands, ¹⁵ the one sea, and the twelve oxen underneath
 it.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 4 verses 14 to 15)

Oh God my Father, in life You have assigned us to different roles, some us are stands meaning reliable and responsible people and others are basins supportive and ready to listen to those who need a shoulder to cry on. Amen.

¹⁶ The pots, the shovels, the forks, and all the equipment for these Hursm-abi made to be burnished bronze for King Solomon for the house of the LORD.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 4 verses 16)

Oh God my Father, whatever our role in the Church or Roman Catholic Church, may we be good instruments that serve our God given purpose Amen. May we be useful in Your hands my God and Father Amen.

¹⁷ In the p-lain of the Jordan the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredah.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 4 verses 17)

Oh God my beloved Father I thank You for being a good listener, I thank You for giving me the opportunity to voice my achievements and my disappointments, and trash out everything with You Amen.

¹⁸ Solomon made all these things in great quantities, so that the weight of the bronze was not determined.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 4 verses 18)

Oh God my beloved Father I pray that like Solomon we learn to invest in our relationship with You in both time of prayer and in time dedicated to helping others, because when we help others it is as if we are helping You Amen.

¹⁹ So Solomon made all the things that were in the house of God; the golden altar, the tables for the bread of the presence, ²⁰ the lampstands and their lamps of pure gold to burn before the inner sanctuary, as prescribed; ²¹ the flowers, the lamps, and the tongs, of purest gold; ²² the snuffers, basins, ladles, and firepans, of pure gold. As for the entrance to the temple; the inner doors to the most holy place and the doors of the nave of the temple were of gold.

(The Second Book of Chronicles Chapter 4 verses 19 to 22)

Oh God my beloved Father, whatever our status in life, regardless if we are young or old rich or poor intelligent or of low Iq, we are all instruments at Your disposal. Some of us may have been called to lead a life that is on a more intimate level with You such as the priesthood, while others like myself and many others form part of the laity. Nevertheless we all have an important role to play Amen.

Oh God my beloved Father, I would like to end this meditation on the fourth chapter of the second book of Chronicles with the following prayer.

Oh God my loving Father, as members of Your Church be it the Roman Catholic Church or other churches we are all instruments with a particular role to play. Some of us may be instruments of gold, being called to serve a more intimate life with You, and others such as myself may be instruments made of stone or iron or maybe of bronze, that are used to fulfill other roles.  I pray that during the course of this life, You reveal to us the role and purpose that You have chosen for us to live and give us the necessary qualities to fulfill the roles that You have chosen for us Amen.
